Sadly, I was not able to complete my annual Shana Tova card this year. I was halfway through creating it when I lost my ApplePencil. While trying to hunt it down, I ordered a replacement but it turns out the “pressure-sensitive” and “tilt-sensitive” are two different things (who knew?) and the return policy was protracted and we were traveling and when I finally received a replacement, (about the same time I got the original one back) the card just didn’t happen for Rosh Hashanah. But! That has led to this combination Rosh Hashanah/Chanukah card, so…
Happy Roshshanukah 5785!
Sometimes it might feel so dark and that it’s gonna take a miracle to keep your light shining, but, nevertheless, let it shine!

I am intrigued with the inspirational role the apple has played throughout the history of humankind. We have the Garden of Eden, where is was the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. It was inspired Newton and his gravity theory. And of course, The Beatles, who were at the vanguard of all the changes to society in the ‘60, named their music company after this same fruit. And lastly, Apple computing company, who’s inventions have completely changed modern society. And so, for this year, my card was about letting your inspiration ooze out of you like honey.
Feel your inner apple!

I took a challah baking class this week. We learned several braiding techniques and placed them all in a bundt tin to bake. The instructor gave us each a glass that fit inside the center for honey so that it would make a nice centerpiece for the table. I found the end product inspirational enough to draw, and to eat, actually. It was a really delicious challah.
Challah if you need me!

Using the symbols of Rosh Hashanah, the apple, honey, and pomegranates, this card shows the apple, representing each person. The honey stream represents the flow of life and the pomegranate seed represent the obstacles on encounters along life. The highlighting through the honey represents finding one’s path through life’s hurdles.
